Mark Vernon

One of the founding members of the artistic radio collective « Radio Tuesday »

Mark Vernon is a sound artist and radio producer based in Glasgow. His acousmatic work, based in particular on found analog tapes, explores the themes of magnetic memory, sound archaeology and nostalgia. At the heart of his practice is a fascination for the intimacy of the radio voice, environmental sounds, obsolete media and the reappropriation of found recordings. A rich collection of home recordings, audio letters, dictated notes, voicemail messages and other lost voices often find their place in his unorthodox sound worlds. These various elements are distilled into radio compositions for broadcasting, multichannel broadcasting, fixed media and live performances.
Mark Vernon is a founding member of the artistic radio collective «Radio Tuesday» and has produced programs for stations such as WFMU, RADIA, Resonance FM, CKUT, VPRO and the BBC. Her radio productions range from documentaries and radio plays to more experimental audio collages and soundscapes.
